I'm going to install 1199 transducer on the transom of Triton 18PRO. Already have a 798 Compact Sidescan transducer on the transom. Need some advice on where to position the 1199 transducer.

mnmciver,
I split this off from the other topic as it addressed a different issue.
Can you post some additional pictures of the transom area of your boat? I can just make out the CSi transducer from the 798 unit but cannot tell where it is connected to the boat (on the transom or bolted to the side of the jackplate). We will need to see some side shots and under the jackplate area too. All need to be from about the same height as the CSi transducer is now.
Some questions:
Will you be leaving the CSi transducer for the 798 unit in place?
Will the HDSi transducer be used for both Si/Di and 2D sonar or just for the Si/Di sonar?

[attachimg=3]Here are two more pics. Here is what I currently have: 798 on the bow with terrova univ sonar and Ethernet to 798 at the helm. The unit at the helm has a Y cable connected to a shoot thru hull transducer and CSi on the transom. Also 360 on the transom. All connect to Ethernet 5 port adapter. I don't know if I should leave the CSI for the 798 in place or remove it because it may not be needed? I was planning on not removing it and putting the HDSi somewhere next to it. Tell me what you think.[attachimg=1][attachimg=2]

Are you adding the 1199 head unit to the helm along with the 798 head unit...??
Or replacing the 798 head unit with the 1199 head unit ...??

Swapping the 1199 for the 798 or not: if the CSi has been working well in that location I would remove it and install the HDSi in its place. If you are keeping the console mounted 798 I would use its Ethernet connection and use the Si and 2D sonar from the 1199 (which will be getting its 2D sonar from the shoot thru hull transducer and AS-Si-DB-Y cable you are using with the 798 now.

Yes the CSi works great in its current location. I'm not sure if the 798 is compatible with HDSI transducer. If it is, then my dilemma just got a whole lot easier. I'll just swap the CSi for the HDSI.

The HDSI will work GREAT on a 798

The HDSI will work GREAT on a 798
As Robert mentioned, the 798 will work with the HDSI xducer ...
But the 800kHz capability of the HDSI cannot be used ...because the 798 will not transmit the 800kHz frequency...only the 455kHz ...

I think I can live with that. Beside, IMO, SI/DI is best viewed on a larger screen. Say goodbye to the CSi transducer. Thanks a bunch guys for your input. Signing off, mnmciver.
