I am running 6.74 on my 998csi. Since I don't require any of the new features included in this update, it looks like the only benefit would be turning off the ping when sonar is off. My question is, "would installing this update in any other way improve the performance of my unit??" And also does the continuing ping when sonar is off harm transducer or head in any way?? if not, why does it matter as long as it doesn't cause interference on other sonar units.

My unit came with 6.490 and I haven't updated because I heard of pixelation issues in 2D. I'm not sure if those issues were resolved with the latest updates.

I take it that I would get no advantage from updating to 7.09. Let me know if this is correct! ???

I have read reports that SI and DI and slightly better with the new versions but the 2d has the same pixelation problems plagued since 6.570...
