Title: 898c si / 797c si question
Post by: kit141 on September 09, 2014, 06:49:46 PM
Current configuration- 898C SI mounted on dash, 797C SI mounted on bow connected via interlink.  797 uses transducer on trolling  motor.  The inter link only displays the GPS from unit to the other.  The 898 does not have the latest update.  If I update, I will lose the ability for the two units to share data.
I am going upgrade my motor with an I-Link which requires the latest 898 update. I have the latest update for the 797 which is old.  Does anybody have an idea without buying a new unit?
If I have to buy a new unit, which one would everybody recommend for the bow. Trying to get by at the lowest cost  Or would it be better to move the 898 upfront and going with a nicer unit.  I would like to connect the two units together and use transducer for both to able to see SI on front unit

Welcome to the Humminbird Side Imaging Forums kit141.

I do not know of a way to make the 797 and 898 units work with the InterLink and the 898 work with the i-Pilot Link.

I would look at the 899ci HD Si unit and put it on the console, moving the 898 to the bow.  That will allow you to share the 2D, Si and Di sonar from the 899 unit to the 898 unit without adding a transducer to the trolling motor.  You must realize though that what you see on the bow unit will be coming from the transducer on the back of the boat, so you will have already passed it if you are fishing off the bow.

You could also use a 999ci HD Si or 1199ci HD Si unit but these are higher cost (and have larger displays).
