Title: Hi all, 999 question.
Post by: Have Rod, will travel on September 05, 2014, 04:19:25 PM
New guy here, let me say "Hey" to all. I bought a 999 earlier this year, and am trying to learn how to use it. Not as easy as I thought it would be. With winter coming I was wondering if I can buy a power cord to use in the house, and practice using it?

Yes. you can get a cord from hummingbird.  Or you can possibly use the one you have. Make sure you fuse the positive. Learning to use an HB is really all about usage mostly on your part. There are a lot of postings in this forum.

You can hook the PC-11 power cord to a 12v source ...

Or hook the PC-11 power cord to a n AC/DC 120v to 12v converter with an output of 1 amp minimum (1000ma)...

Like Chuck mentioned...don't forget the fuse...

If you happen to be a Ham Radio Operator like me you can wire the PC-11 cable to the extra 12v output terminals on the back of your power supply.  I also spent a lot of time at the bench learning the 899.
