Title: Transducer for 898?
Post by: fishermanatr on August 03, 2014, 08:58:27 PM
Looking for a smaller transducer (also less expensive) for use in flooded timber.  Will a XNT 9 SI 180T work on my 898cHDsi?  I believe that it will, but my research has left me somewhat confused.

Thanks,  Tad

Yes it will Tad but you will be limited to the 455kHz Si/Di sonar frequency as this transducer was not designed to produce the 800kHz Si/Di frequency.

Is this for a transom mount or on the trolling motor?

Greg, This is for my second boat (an old military aluminum hull) that I use for stripers and blue cats, in the thickest flooded timber areas of Santee- Cooper.   I will damage three or four transducers a year!  I will have to use a transom mount.

I think that I have decided to use the XHS 9 HDSI 180T transducer mounted up high out of harms way, for my SI.

And, I believe, the XNT 9 20 transducer for 2D.  Does sound like the correct way to go?
Also, will I have temp readings coming from the HDSI transducer?
Thanks so much for your input.

Tad

That sounds right Tad but don't forget the AS-Si-DB-Y cable.
Yes, the temperature will come from the HDSi transducer.

Thanks Greg.  That's the way I'll go.  Will go ahead and get several of the 2D transducers and keep an extra one handy.
