when i playback recordings on my 899si HD unit, the screen resolution reverts to a very low and blocky resolution. same files will playback fine in Humviewer or when initially recorded. any thoughts on how to improve or what i might be doing wrong. The recordings look like early video game resolution. very blocky.

We always recommend resetting back to defaults both before AND after an update, if you'd like you can go on your data card and take a shorter recording (file size) from the RECORD folder and I will see how it plays on my machines.
To be honest - I have not recorded any other than a simulator - since I have been having fun with the fish and the screen shots.
There are several files you'd need to make into a zip file like a "R00002" folder (has a .SON and a .IDX file in it), and a "R00002.DAT" on the main root of the card; I think a "R00002.XML" was created using the SON2XTF converter... Don't recall - but any recording that has the same file name numberering should be included and I can see what I come up with on either the 998 or my own 899.
My emails is my username@TgmailDOTcom.
I can check one out if you like??
I usually use Hummviewer here on the PC so I'm not even sure it that's an issue here - I also use class 10 SDHC Cards for the speed - if you have any of the following type:
SD, SDHC and SDXC - please be warned the SDXC format isn't supported and the machines DON'T like it, and could cause issues.
LMK!!

thanks for all the good information, I will certainly take heed. I did find the problem. If you are viewing a playback in any speed other than straight play i.e. 1/2 speed, 2x or 4x, it will pixelate the screen, giving it the effect of an old video game. Normal speed plays in the definition of the original recording. Once again, strictly a user problem (me)
thanks

COOL!
Glad you got it sorted and it's no problem.
If you ever run into a snag, I am usually around here, BBC or www.Michigan-Sportsman.com/forum (http://www.Michigan-Sportsman.com/forum)
