Is the ASPC3 kit what I need to power the 998 unit inside my home like you see Doug doing in his how to videos?
Thanks

The AS PC3 cable is used for updating HB units that do not have a card reader...
To power your HB unit on 110v you will need a AC/DC converter with an output 1amp minimum...
HB does not sell this...due to the increased federal regulations on this type of device ...making it not cost effective to offer...
You can find AC/DC converters at Radio Shack (or maybe a leftover from another device) stuck in a drawer at home...
You will also need an extra HB PC 11 power cord...

Be sure to install a 3amp fuse in the positive wire...

The 798 has SD Card slots for updating the unit ...so there's no need for the AS PC3 ...
What "set up" are you needing to do ... ??

I was going to see if my old 798ci si had routes and waypoints on it to save so I could add to my new 798ci hd. i was curios if there were routes on the unit that was not on my card.

If you're just wanting to power up the older 798 ...you can remove the power wire from the newer 798 quick attach base and plug it in the older 798 to power it up ...
The AS PC3 will power up the unit ...but with only 4 AA batteries - I'm not sure how long the unit would have power before the AA batteries died ...
