With the new software update I want to link my two graphs. I have the 999 at console and 859 at bow. I have a v2 power drive and it's a pain in the ass to run the transducer cable up to the graph. My question Is can I use the rear transducer from the 999 to view on bow mount on 859 like switch fire , side imaging etc. it would save the hassle of running the bow transducer cables. Plus I just want depth and map abilities up front. I already have them linked to the Ethernet hub. So should this work and do I need the new 7.02 software to do this? Thanks a bunch
-
Yep. it will be out shortly I think - I have 7.020 on my 899 and if you check your account & the HB site they may have the update out now - not sure and if Greg pops in he might know for sure.
-
Yes, with the 6.900/6.940/7.020 software on both units you will be able to share the 2D/Si/Di sonar data from the transom mounted HDSi transducer with the 859 unit.
The 999ci HD Si unit already has the 7.020 version released for it but I do not know what the current software listed on the MY Humminbird page is as I do not have one registered – anyone want to pm me their serial number for an 859 unit so that I can register and track the software for them? This will not void or change anything with your warranty or unit.
-
Wish I could Greg!
I'm all SI all the time...LOL >:D
If I remember I will PM a buddy on his 859DI.... ;)
-
ok new problem. everything is hooked up and can see the Ipilot link etc on both graphs. The 999 reads 6.8 software. I re formated a SD card so it was completely blank. I then downloaded the 7.020 software to add to each device. When I plug the sd card into the slot , Nothing happens. It doesnt recognize it at all... not on the 999 or the 859. Should I be using a different SD card. I am using a Sandisk Ultra SD XC I card which is prob a higher end card for pictures and HD content... any suggestions??? Thanks all
-
EACH unit must have it's own model specific S/W.
I would try another card or the other card slot AFTER you ensure you have v7.020 for the intended model, no other software on the card either.
ALWAYS one update on one card @ time... then see what happens.
Maybe re-download the software too?
-
ok I tried re formatting the card several times. Only one file on it says for the 999... Do I have to do this through the humminbird Pc program or can I just download file to the card? How do you download the ipilot link update? Do I first update the graph then load the new card with ipilot link into the graph again for the link update? I am trying a different SD card today. I find it weird that neither is recognizing the update... Another question should I remove my Lakemaster chip from the unit before downloading?
-
Personally, I would remove all other memory or mapping cards from a unit before I updated it.
Instructions for updating the i-Pilot Link Controller and Remote should be on your My Humminbird account when you download the software.
I believe that your problem is that you are using an SDXC (Extreme Capacity) memory card. The Humminbird units will work with MMC, SD (SDSC), and SDHC type memory cards but not the newest SDXC type memory cards.
-
The other card worked... how sweet I can see everything on bow... IE sideimaging, down imaging etc off the back transducer. Now to tackle the ipilot link. Do I have to install it on the 999 graph at console or the 859 graph on bow?? or on both??? hmmm.. any idea?
-
You're networked. As long as the Terrova can "see" the update files, shouldn't matter.....
Cool beans!!!!!! >:D
-
ok so just need to install on 1 unit is what u think.. I will see. does this sound correct Greg?
-
The unit is "talking" to the LINK, it is reading data from the control head - Greg will probably pop back in tomorrow..... ;D
-
Actually today Robert! ;D
He’s right, the unit you load the i-Pilot Link software into is just the host and passes the software onto the accessory – in this case the i-Pilot Link. The unit does not save or need a copy of the i-Pilot Link update files.

WOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO!!!! :o :o
You DA MAN Greg!!! ;D
Let the record show I helped TWICE today!!!
LOL!!!
Bringer of the 'Bird..... has a nice ring to it - ya think....LOL!!!!

Greg,
On this same setup, is it possible for him to see the dedicated DI data from the 859 on the 999? If so, how would you set up the transducers? Have both SI & DI on the back, run to each graph, then share each respective part?
I have this same setup and don't like the quality of the down imaging the 999 produces and would like to see dedicated down imaging.
Thanks.
-
Having both units on the back transmitting, they are going to "cross talk" and interfere with each other quite badly.
I "shut off" sonar on my 899 and have been using the 998 to feed sonar data to it with no interference, the DI is another story - if you play with the settings a bit + SENS. 12-14 and the contrast (I'd resort to the enhance sharpness as a last resort) - you can get pretty decent DI - between 2D and SI I seem to do OK.... ;)
If you're "set on" a dedicated DI signal, you will have to make that your HOST machine & not have SI during that time.....
-
Robert is correct. With updated software the Si unit should be able to use the information from the DI model unit/transducer but you will be giving up the Si model features when this is happening.
-
What if you set the DI freq to 800khz and the SI transducer to 455khz or vice versa? Would that keep the crosstalk from happening?
-
Unit transmits 200/83/455/800 all at once, so NO.
-
Let’s see… If you set the 859 unit to use the 455kHz 2D and DI sonar frequencies and set the 999 unit to use the 200kHz (and/or 83kHz) 2D sonar and 800kHz Si sonar frequencies you should be fine.
The non-DI units always transmit at the 200kHz frequency, so if you can avoid using that in the DI model units and keep from using the same DI/Si frequency it should work without any sonar cross talk.
Please see my post below. :-[
-
SERIOUSLY?
Are you saying this would alsowork for 1-2D and 1-DI unit then??
I have all SI machines on board - so I could surely learn something new here!!!!!!!!!
-
Yes Robert.
One 2D and one DI unit would be even easier. Just set the DI unit to use the 455kHz 2D sonar frequency and set the DI sonar at whatever frequency you want. The 2D (200/83kHz) unit could be set any way you want.
Please see my post below.
-
Thanks Greg!!! You rock!
-
no problem
-
Crow – the other white meat… okay, maybe not white but I got a mouth full of it right now.
I was mistaken in that the DI model units always transmit at 200kHz – regardless of what menu setting or water depth you are in.
So, with the 859 and 999 there are no real settings that you could use that may not allow sonar-to-sonar interference on at the 200kHz frequency. if you experience any such interference on the 200kHz you can try and counter this by turning on and up the Noise Filter menu.

None of us are perfect buddy, so what's a little cool whip on some humble pie once in a while??
;)
It sure would be nice if we could switch on & off separate frequencies - but that complicates operation even more for the technically challenged...LOL!
I guess I will stick with using 2 SI machines networked together and view 2D on one and the DI/SI on another display - works fine for me!
It's still a pleasure to have you helping all of us out all the time Greg.
