I WANT TO MOUNT MY TRANDUCER FOR A 999 BELOW MY TRANSOM IN FRONT OF THE STEP TRANSOM HORIZONTALLY. ( WOULD BE LIKE A CEILING MOUNT) SO IT WOULD STICK OUT BEHIND THE MOTOR TRIMMED DOWN. THE MOUNT SUPPLIED DOES NOT LET YOU DO THAT.ANY OTHER MOUNT CONVERSIONS THAT WOULD LET ME DO THIS. THIS FOR A BASSTRACKER WITH THE STEP TRANSOM. I DO HAVE IT INSTALLED NOW ON THE TRANSOM TO THE RIGHT OF THE MOTOR, JUST WANT A OPTION IF POSSIBLE. I THINK THIS MIGHT WORK OUT BETTER. THANKS
-
IF I MAKE A L BRACKET AND SCREW THE MOUNT TO IT AND THEN SCREW THE OTHER SIDE UP INTO THE STEP TRANSOM BEHIND THE MOTOR.JUST TO THE RIGHT OF THE DRAIN HOLE. ANY SUGGESTIONS. THANKS
-
I have not seen any sort of a mount that would hold the HDSi transducer for the 999ci HD Si unit back behind the motor. Most mount the transducer off to one side of the motor and then trim the motor up when using the Si sonar.
-
I was going to try to make a L bracket to attach mount to and put it behind the motor in front of drain holes by screwing up into L bracket(like a cieling mount) so motor can be trimmed down without hitting and then putting high speed transducer to left which would be mounted higher on step. would tranducers be to close to each other and cause interferance or would this give me better readings for SI and DI at faster speeds. thanks
-
If you don't have a problem with debris in the water, then I would just make a mount to lower it more.

bassmasterG13,
I’m not understanding something here… what type of boat and motor do you have?
Can you post some pictures of your boat’s transom and what it is you are wanting to do?
Where you planning on using some sort of a Y-splitter cable?
-
yes i want to use a Y splitter cable. I have the hdsi transducer mounter on the transom to the right of the motor. i was thinking about mounting it under the step infront of the drain plug with an L bracket. would i get better readings this way so i dont have to trim the motor up. the high speed transducer weill go on the step all the way to the left.
Thanks
-
I have a 50hp merc. picture does not show the 999 tranducer the picture was befor the install. also the humminbird bracket will not fit above the drain hole thats why i wanted to make a L bracket to push it out in front of drain hole and down but still be protected. thanks
-
The recommended install location is about where the other transducer is in the picture.
-
if i place it there the motor would be in the way of the SI. thats why to the right of the motor i need to trim up so SI works the further away from motor the more the eng would have to be trimmed.if i can put it below transom with L bracket motor can be trimmed all the way down. Greg whats your take on this. thanks
-
I think that if you mount the HDSi transducer there that the Si readings will be better but that it will be more likely to be damaged and more likely that it will cause problems with the water flow either into the motor or through the propeller due to an air bubble formed by cavitation at faster boat speeds. You can’t tell about the cavitation for sure without mounting and testing it in that location.
If it were my boat I would mount the high-speed transducer where it works the best and move the HDSi transducer where it is more protected but as far away from the high-speed transducer as I could get it. This may mean I would have to trim the motor up when I used the Si sonar. If you could get the high-speed transducer to mount under that step, it would not block the Si sonar from the HDSi transducer if it was mounted on the step/transom.
-
Greg, If i mount the 999 tranducer on the step very close to the left of the drain hole and use a 1 inch spacer to kick it out past the drain plug where it would be protected. it would almost be to bottom of hull but not under boat. I would not have to trim motor up. the high speed tranducer would be to the far right on the step with the bottom of the tranducer even with bottom of hull on the left side an a little below hull on right side and higher than the si tranducer. can this be a set up that can give be best results?.thanks.
-
It may but the HDSi transducer mounted there is less protected and the high speed transducer will block a small portion of the right Si sonar beam, but if you are set on not having to trim up the motor that could be a good option for you.

Hi Greg I decided to keep my 999 tranducer on transom to right of motor and trim motor up at lower speeds an mount high speed on step to left. the spitter would be AS SIDB Y and which tranducer xnt 920 or xnt 920 t tm. whats the differance. thanks.
-
The tm is trolling motor mount

thanks for all the help

I am faced with the same problem on a 96 Ranger 461VS. In order to get a clean shot for SI.

Here's some info that may be of help for Ranger installations...

The XNT 9 20 T has a temp probe.....
The XNT 9 20 does not...
It doesn't matter with the AS SIDB Y cable because the temperature data comes from the temp probe in the HDSI ...(the temp probe in the XNT 9 20 T would not have a wire going to it thru the AS SIDB Y cable)...
(I'm not sure what your "tm" designation is for ....neither of these 2 xducers is for TM mount...TM mount applications designate with a "XTM ------"...)....
