Just pondering that since the introduction of the Onix and Ion units that will there be further product development for the model I own (to use an example)a 798cxi HDSI.
Just a thought worthy of responses (or so I thought at the time) 8)

I'll venture to guess that there will be NO MORE product development for
your model since the 8's are now getting a little old.
I assume until a unit is defined as a 'legacy' model, that software
updates will still be made, if needed.
Greg will have to verify.

That’s not how it has been working ITG.
A legacy unit is just one that we no longer are in production of.
We have supported software updates for many unit models for years after stopping production of them.
Whether we will still come out with software updates for a particular model is dependent on many factors, most of which I do not know about. I do know that if the unit does not have the capability (Ex: Ethernet connection) or memory space, it will not get the new update.
Don’t ask me if XX model will get a software update or not as I usually don’t know about them until they get posted to the My Humminbird accounts.

You didn't address the product development question for older models.

That’s because I don’t have a definite answer for it ITG.
If you want a guess than I would say “Yes” there will still be at least one more software update for the 798ci HD Si model units (including the various International versions of this same model).
