I have recently updated my 898cx si to version 6.740. When I try and create a waypoint in the side imagining view (with the cursor) I get a message saying it has saved the waypoint as (041 etc) but it hasn't saved with the rest of my waypoints (its like it never saved) I'm unsure if I have changed all my settings back to what I had them originally when it was working ( before the update) I did have the snap shot and recording view enabled but do not have an SD card fitted, I have since turned if off. I have not tried to save using other views. Could it be because the snap shot and recording view was on without an SD card? Is there any way to test the unit when not on the water? Any suggestions what the problem might be?

Welcome to the Humminbird Side Imaging Forums Lonestar.
It sounds like you have the Screen Snapshot menu turned on without a memory card in the unit. The snapshot and recording view is not the culprit here. Either install a memory card in your unit or turn the snapshot feature off.
Yes you can test the unit when it is not on the water. Just power it up while it is on the boat and give it a try. With the transducer connected it should remember the menu changes you make.
