Title: Anyone using Navionics+ with a 899ci HD SI
Post by: Brismith3 on March 20, 2014, 10:15:48 PM
Hi all,
I've just purchased the 899ci HD SI combo unit and am in the process of setting it up on my boat. I'll be fishing primarily shallow (less than 30 feet in most cases) fresh and salt water. In my research, it seems that there are a limited number of chips that work with the 899 (Navionics Gold and Navionics+ For salt water).  I'm interested in hearing about others experience with these chips and this unit, good or bad. I don't have any experience with Navionics or other chips, but am interested in seeing more contour info in the coastal rivers here in Virginia. The option of loading your own recording data is also interesting with Navionics+. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Hopefully once I come up to speed on the use of this unit I'll be able to contribute more to the board. I've found this to be an incredibly useful forum with a lot of great info sharing. Thanks for all the great info,
Brian

i recently purchased the navionics + for my 1198.  I like how easy the download was for the chip.  You can download up to 2gb data any where in us/canada.  select your area you want, down load,   select another area, etc.  It keeps track how much you have downloaded and then you can update for a year.  awesome for me.  I got Kentucky, Indiana, western lake Erie, eastern Wisconsin,  Ontario and it still has almost a gb of data left.
