Title: Can two units share a single transducer

I would like to eventually end up with two units.  One at the console and one on the bow.  Plan is a 798ci this year at console then it moving to bow next year with a new bigger something at the console. 

I don't think you want to mount SI on a trolling motor so my question becomes can a transducer support two units or do I need to mount two transducers on the transom to support a console and bow mount?

Yes as Jolly Roger pointed out.  But there are quite a few members who have SI on the trolling motor.  Since the SI transducer on the transome is a good 25-20' from the bow where you are fishing, the info you will be seeing is behind you.  By putting it on the trolling motor, you can see the fish that are near your postion.

So, in my opinion, you would want it!

I have an 1197 and use a SI transducer on my trolling motor.  When running in a straight line it is just like the one on the transducer, but it allows you to view everything up front instead of behind you.  I use the 3 way view DI, 2d, and SI but my favorite depending on water depth is a split screen with DI and 2d views.

Also, I have used a QuadraBeam on my trolling motor.  A transducer on the TM is a must for me.

Thanks everyone for your input!

I was just at the dealer ordering the I-Pilot and was talking with the techs about install costs for the 798ci.  Explaining that I wanted to put the old L. 135 on the bow, hooked up to my trolling motor and install the new 798 at the console.  He said you know you can't run both at the same time because the transducers will interfere with each other.

My question.....Is that a true statement?

I don't know what frequencies the L is using, but if these are the same as the Bird's they will interfere with each other.

From a  past year event.  We were running the HB 200 khz for an operation  and another boat using a Low 200 skimmer appeared to interfere with our signals. Not sure if it was really their unit, but after we asked them to hold off until we were done we did not have any extraneous interference.  I cant say for sure it was the Low but we did see something strange while their unit was on and in the vicinity of our transducer.  it was noticible when they were close not farther away.  Greg can you weigh in on this.  chuck
