Title: Can HB 798SI HD be connected to Raymarines EV-100 Autopilot
Post by: yankee1 on March 06, 2014, 01:35:40 PM
Hi yes another new bee but that's a good thing nothing better then a strong hive....LOL
can someone help me out, I'm looking into getting some steering assistance while fishing along.
we all know it can get interesting if the winds-A-blow, waters rough, fish on.... and the dogs got to pee.
Anyway I'm sure we all have a funny story or two we can tell feel free to add one in alone with any advise
you can give connecting the Chart capability's of the HB 798 SI HD to a Raymarine EV- 100 Power autopilot and will be able to use the GPS capability's of fallowing  waypoints from the Navionics  Hot Maps
I'm a little green when it comes to how they communicate. I know they use the GPS signal and convert It into ??? anyway what I really need to know is how to connect everything.
Thanks....! in Advance Yankee1

Does your autopilot system work already? If the 798HDSI unit could control the Raymarine, it would at least need the humminbird nmea2k adapter and maybe some other ethernet equipment. If you don't have that Raymarine unit, I would think the cheaper route would be to get the Ipilot-Link for one of the Minnkota trolling motors. You can tell the trolling motor to goto whatever waypoint but probably not super fast like you're probably wanting to go.

Do you have the Raymarine Autopilot now?
Do you know what sort of connection it needs: NMEA 0183 or NMEA 2000?

For the NMEA 2000 you will need the AS-ETH-NMEA2K accessory and whatever NMEA 2000 backbone connections for your Autopilot.

For NMEA 0183 you will need to get the AS-HHGPS cable and wire to your Autopilot.  You would need to know the input wiring diagram is for the Autopilot.
