Title: Sharing 2d Transducer between 998 and 788ciHD
Post by: TAKFishing on February 23, 2014, 05:44:23 PM
Just purchased a 998c HD SI unit and will be adding this to my console.  I'm keeping my 788ci HD unit in the console as is.

I am going to mount the 998 SI ducer on the jackplate but am hearing that when I am running most likely I will lose even my 2d sonar from the 998  SI Ducer due to the transducer placement, and the only way to avoid this is to add another 2d transducer, preferably a through hull version.

Now, I already have a 2d shoot through hull transducer that serves the 788ci HD that is on the console and this gives me good 2d readings until about 58-ish MPH.

What is the physical configuration/how can I go about sharing the existing 2d shoot through hull transducer or at least the 2d data from the shoot through hull transducer that currently serves the 788.  My guess involves :

-Add a Y cable to connect both the SI transducer and the existing 2d through hull transducer to the new 998
-The 998 acts as the "primary" unit and I connect it to the 788ci HD via an ethernet cable (need adapter on 788 side)
-Network the 2 so that the 2d sonar data is shared across both units served by the existing 2d shoot through the hull transducer

When said and done I would be fine with getting my 2d sonar on both the 998 and 788 from the existing shoot through hull transducer.  (I understand there is no sharing of DI or SI between the units)...

Hopefully the scenario that I am describing is clear...Thanks.

Good for you TAK! That is similar to what I am doing, using a 7 series in the dash for 2d and GPS chart, and my 8 series for SI views. Good luck.
