I was wonder if the i-pilot will work with both units at same time? I can pick up a 898 si for the the bow for $700. Do you use the unit at the wheel to set way points and tracks to then tell the i-pilot where to go or can you use both units? Has anyone used SI on the trolling motor? I think you have to be moving for SI to work, so if you have to drive past it then come back at it t fish, do I really need SI at the front? Also the trolling motor rotates which will mess with the image coming to the screen, so is it only used for DI and location on the water? Can I then switch between the two units? Again this will be all new to me, never used either one on the water. Lnk is hard to find any info on other then a few neat features. Thanks

I had some of the same concerns and decided to make a dedicated bow deployment system made out of an old trolling motor that I mounted my si transducer to. I have a 999si at the wheel on a ram ball mount. I also have a 788c next to it. once on spot my nephew fishes the bow and I simply rotate the screen to face him. He uses it and the bow mounted transduce. I fish off the stern using the 788 and the transom mounted quadrabeam. I'm new to digital imaging myself andand still like 2D when fishing while stationary.

[Correction] Either unit can control the i-Pilot Link.
Many have been using Si on the trolling motor – some like it and some don’t. Search this site for posts about this.

Had to change my post above as I’ve found out that either unit can control the i-Pilot Link. Sorry, I have not tried this myself and so was passing along information from someone else… which has now been corrected.
