Well I got my 1198c si delivered. I can hardly wait to get this thing in the water and I am surrounded by nothing but ice! Going to replace my 898. the 898 will be on the trolling motor, linked by Ethernet with the 1198. Moving Puck for 898 to the bow also for more accurate gps. Puck for 1198 will go on rear gunnel for more accurate gps also. (maybe overkill?) I fish Indiana mostly, trips to Canada, Wisconsin and Kentucky. Anyone have experience with the sonar chips or would I just be better off with the std. navionics. Mounting on a Lund 1850 Tyee. Probably a Ram Mount. Going to have the marina do the install in a couple weeks. Am I forgetting anything? I am excited!!!

Congrats! Moving the GPS antenna vertically above the transducer is a great idea.
May want to think about ethernet connecting both head units together to be able to share waypoints.

Which gps puck do you have for the 898 and where is it currently located? If it's above the transom transducer you could probably leave that one there and use the one from the 1198 up front on the 898 and save you a remove and re-install.

The 898 puck is currently on console. A bad place in my opinion. I think, after using for a couple of years the pucks should be placed as near the transducer as possible. I also have the U2 sonar on my Minn Kota but I would loose the side and down scan if it is hooked up. So I am installing the 898 transducer on the bottom of trolling motor

I would suggest possibly exchanging the new GPS puck that came with the 1198 for the AS GPS HS antenna with heading sensor and install this AS GPS HS antenna at the TM...
I have heard that HB will exchange with a new unopened GPS puck with a little extra $$...but much less than the actual cost of the AS GPS HS antenna separately...
The heading sensor is awesome in the chart views while using the TM...
