Title: 898 hd si installation on a Ranger 175 vs
Post by: Ranger175vs on January 30, 2014, 02:52:51 PM
I am trying to install a 898 hd si on a ranger 175 vs. The question is the transducer location.
this Ranger is a stepped  hull design. I've included pix of various locations.
pix 1 transducers appears to extend to far out for clear line due to motor
pix 2 the mount will not rotate far enough to level transducer
pix 3 on the step may cause cavitation issue
pix 4 on transom will not allow transducer to be parallel to boat center line
I have a 570 down imaging on the bow with a trolling mount transducer
Will mounting the side imaging transducer on the trolling motor be an issue
I do not plan on using both units at the same time
My concern with this is powering the si transducer out of the water on long runs
pix to large to attach

Can you take some pictures of your boat hull from farther back, so that we can see the overall shape of it?
Is the 175vs the one of those with the multiple curves in the transom area?

I don’t see pix 4 so I’m guessing that is the one that was too large to attach.

So far I would say pix 1 is the best option but it means trimming the motor up when you want to use the Si sonar.

yes the 175 is curved along the transom any place other than the step will skew the transducer from the center line of the boat
pix 1 will probale work as I plan to side scan only on idle and will the chart at speed As I plan to explore new waters to fish
Also can you email me an address so I can support this site the info I have gathered here continues to expand my skill base
thanks for your input
