Title: 998 transducer on a center console tunnel hull
Post by: hgv on January 14, 2014, 10:15:49 AM
Before I try it I thought I would ask for advice. Where to mount the transducer on a center console tunnel hull? Position marked #1 and #2 in the photo.

My vote is for #2. 1 is high and you may have objects in your way (like the aerator screens)

I don’t have any hands-on experience with tunnel hulls so I will agree with Rotus.

Is this just for the Si sonar or is this for high-speed 2D sonar as well?

Both SI and 2D. Figure I make have to add a "shoot thru the hull" for high speed 2D.

You don't "have" to add a thru-hull ducer, although it will make it way easier to keep nice clean readings up to speed. I would decide to add one or not to now though. That way if you do decide to go with two ducers you can put your SI ducer a little higher up on the transom to protect it from debris while under way. I do some river fishing, and I keep my fingers crossed at each outing on the river. May have to move the SI ducer up and add a 2d just because of this......
