Title: Map upgrade for 597ci HD DI
Post by: Arrownaughtic on December 30, 2013, 05:45:06 PM
Been researching this for quite some time and have not found a real answer yet. I live close to both lakes and Puget Sound here in WA state. I am trying to find a SD map card that will offer both lakes and marine expanded capabilities. It seems that on the Navionics site they list my unit as compatible with the platinum+ card but reading on forums I read a couple of threads where this is not true. I do see that Navionics offers a combo? lakes and marine card.
So my question is........ What map card should I be buying that will fulfill my needs for both fresh and saltwater?

The 597ci HD DI unit should only be compatible with the HotMaps/Gold Navionics series of mapping cards – not the Platinum.

Before you purchase a map make sure your lakes are on the map. Not all lakes are on maps. it does pay to check before buying. Be specific when you ask the question about lake coverage.

Thanks Greg and Sonar,
I am glad I posted here before taking the plunge and buying the wrong card. I did not see a definite answer in my earlier searches. I appreciate the solid advice.

Chuck gave some really good advice hear.  I’ll add that you should not just find out if your lakes are on the map card but also at what level of detail they have.  Not all of the lakes on the map cards available today are at the higher 1-foot definition that some lakes have.
