Title: Question about side scan and down imaging (not working)

Hello,
I have bought a second hand 998si unit..
Today I have tested it and I think that down imaging is not working ?!

Side imaging works ok.. here is a sample image from my unit i have made today.. (recorder on sd card)

after that I switched to down imaging and nothig happened.. only a "matrix with square pixels"... (strange for me before HB i had Eagle Fishmark 480 so I know how the picture must look like ;) )

What you think? Is maybe a transducer fault?

     I see that your software level is 4.500. My unit was built Feb.16,2010 and came with 4.830.
     I would try updating the software first. I'm at 5.700 now and it meets my needs. Tried 6.18 awhile, but image was not as good.
     Went back to 5.700.
     Make sure you read Robert's post about updating before you do anything.

I think Wayne answered this for you on another forum...

Your lower range depth on DI is set at 3'...

Set lower range to "auto" or at least deeper than the actual water depth...

Yes! it was that lower range was set on 3 feet...
All works fine..

When I bought my sonar I have updated it to 6.490 version
