Can the DI transducer be used in universal mode on a 798ci SI unit?

Can a universal sonar transducer work on a DI unit if set-up on 200kHz?

I would guess, yes, if the pin outs are the same.

				JohnS,
Not sure what you are meaning by the “universal mode” on the 798ci Si unit but it is not advisable that you use one of the DI transducers on any of the Si model units as this will put a strain on the 455kHz element.

No, a Universal Sonar transducer cannot be used on a DI model unit regardless of the set-up.  There are some internal differences between the Universal Sonar transducers and our standard DualBeam transducers that can cause a failure in the DI units.

				Greg,

Thanks for the reply.  I got the same info from Wayne P.

On my 798ci I had a transducer sellect feature, that could force unit into 2D mode.  I used that on my bowrider where I didn't need any SI and never had a problem with any of the SI channels going out.

Anyway, not getting any DI, went with a 798ci HD SI to replace my 798ci that went to Davy Jones locker.  :(
