I have recently purchased a 898c HD SI and am about to purchase a Minn Kota Terrova with I-Pilot Link. I need some advice on mounting the transducer on the Terrova, will it work on the Terrova, or, should I just stick with the transom mount? and what hardware would I need to mount it. Any insight into this matter would be appreciated.

Yes it can be mounted on the Terrova and it will work there. You will need to contact Humminbird’s Customer Resource folks about exchanging your transom mount HDSi transducer for a trolling motor mounted one or you can use a 3rd party’s adapter bracket to mount the transducer you have to the trolling motor.

I did contact HB customer service and the lady told me to order the ADSTM7 Trolling motor bracket, she did not say anything about exchanging transducers. Is there a third party mount that will work with the transducer that came with the 898. Thanks Greg

Transducer Shield and Saver makes great transducer mounts for transom and trolling motor. A little $$$$$, but very good.

Now for mounting you can run the transducer cable down the slot in the Terrova shaft:

Or you can use a coiled air-hose like those from Harbor Freight.
Sorry I couldn't find the web address with pictures.
But you run the transducer cable inside the air-hose, then let the air-hose wrap around the lower part of the Terrova shaft.
You cut the air-hose to a good length.

Thanks for all the help, I am sure I will have a bunch more questions before this is all installed
