Title: Battery for 798
Post by: OleNørskov on September 15, 2013, 12:01:14 PM
Hi guys,

I am looking for a somewhat smaller battery for my 798. I have been looking at a 7.2 ah but I am curious to know if it is enough for 6-9 hours of fishing?

Thanks in advance. :)

Kind regards Ole

Hi Ole,
I use a 7.2 ah lead-acid battery for my 981 and it use to be enought for "a whole day" with activities. The 981 is one of the most energy consuming Humminbird models and the 798 needs much less. Thank you very much! No need to bring a 80ah anymore then :)

For 9 hour use, consider a 12Ah battery, you will come short with a 7.2Ah

I am using a 10ah from batterymart.com that has the same footprint as the 7ah. It fits in my humminbird portable rig perfectly I can fish a long day without a problem. I could not find a 12 ah that fit the same. I also invested in a multi stage charger so I don't cook the battery with a standard wall-wart 1amp charger.  This one has been doing me well. and it was worth the $35 bucks. http://www.geniuschargers.com/shop/G750 (http://www.geniuschargers.com/shop/G750)
