How do I find out what software I have on my 1198 and can I copy and save it. I'm thinking of keeping the standard puck and then buy an HS puck when HB gets their software right. It would cost me more, but it might be a safer way

During Power-On, hit Menu, then select Diagnostics.

You can turn on the Self Test View by:
- Going to the main menu and selecting the Views menu tab
- Scroll down until you see the Self Test
- Set it to “Visible”
- Exit the menus
- Scroll through the available Views until you see the new View which will show you the software version in about the middle of the screen.

I've asked this question on the BBC and was told there is no way of downloading software from a unit.

I don't recall being able to copy the loaded code. But you can register your unit at HB and then download the copy. HB only has current code so if your units is back level you can go to the software part of this forum and maybe find your code there. Or you can post your code level here and ask for someone to send you a copy.
Make surer you know the person sending the copy. We do have to be careful of some who lurk here to cause trouble. Thank goodness it does not happen very often..

You can also send me a request via e-mail for a specific version of software and state your Humminbird unit model name (the full name). I will reply back as my time permits and send the software via TransferBigFiles.com
