Title: Plugging humminbird into wall socket

Hey guys, trying to fiddle with my 898 at home. I read that this unit draws 780Ma. Bought a 12v adapter that works up to 1 amp, and during startup of the unit, the unit will cut off. Connections are all great and polarity is correct. Does this unt have a higher amperage spike than 1amp?

I use a 3 amp supply.  Of course the inline is fused at 3 amp for safety.  Make sure the connections are good connections.. Initial startup may spike the 1 amp draw..

Yea that's what I was thinking. Guess I just have to up the power.

Just for future readers, I pinpointed my issue. Brought the 1amp ac adapter back and got the 1.5 amp 12vdc one, and had a 1amp glass fuse in. It blew the fuse. Put a 2.5amp glass fuse in and it works great. So this confirms it, the 898 uses 780ma to run, but definitely spikes above 1amp during startup.

I had the same issue with a 1 amp power supply, would boot up and shut off.  I went to a 3A laptop supply and no more issues.
