I've created a waypoint in HB PC simply by plugging in the numbers of a known waypoint lat/long in the default HB PC format of Nxx xx.xxx Sxxx xx.xxx
I have downloaded Google Earth 4.2.025.8730
When I click on the Google Earth icon in HB PC....GE opens fine but it takes me to my (correctly named) waypoint,,but it shows it somewhere in the Middle East with the format of Nxx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sxx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I've tried going into the "Tools/Options" menu and changing the "Show Lat/Long" options but they don't actually change after I click "Apply" and then "OK"....
How do I get GE to recognize the default coordinate format of HB PC...??

Nxx xx.xxx Sxxx xx.xxx is wrong format.
Nxx xx.xxx E or W xx xx.xxx is ok
Sxx xx.xxx E or W xx xx.xxx is ok

Sorry...I misstyped that in my OP....
The format I typed into HB PC is
Nxx xx.xxx
Exxx xx.xxx
This is the default format that HP PC opens when I click "Create Waypoint" in HB PC....
N00 00.000 (notice the 2 digits in degrees after the N)
E000 00.000 (notice the 3 digits in degrees after the E)
This is the exact same format that works in my Garmin E-Trex handheld and that format does, indeed, take me to that waypoint when fishing....
But, as I mentioned in my OP....after I created the waypoint (in the above format),.... when I click on the Google Earth icon in HB PC ....GE opens and shows my (correctly named) waypoint..... but it shows it somewherre in the Middle East...
I can double click on the (correctly named) waypoint on the GE aerial view and GE shows the format as...
Latitude xx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Longitude xx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Do you have the right setup in Humminbird PC ::)

Position format.
You can do a position format setup in GE too.
-
That is the same setup I have in HB PC...
I think the issue is in GE...
After I create the waypoint in HB PC, highlight the waypoint in HB PC, then click the GE icon in HB PC....
GE opens with my (correctly named) waypoint in an aerial view...
If I click on the waypoint in the aerial view of GE it shows the format as
Lat xx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Long xx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Now, I checked in GE...Tools/Options and it shows the GE coordinate format option as "Degrees, Minutes, Seconds".....but that is not what the opening aerial view of GE is showing the coordinate format as...

Maybe I can post these attachments to show the options in my GE
Bear with me on posting attachments....
-
As you can see from the attachment labled printscreen1...GE shows the waypoint in the aerial view as a format of xx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
But the options are selected to show "Degreews, Minutes, Seconds"
I have not changed any options in GE since downloading the app....the ones shown in the attachment are the ones that GE loaded at download...
Therefore I am confused....

Mark your GE as in my picture.
Then i think its ok

I changed the coordinate format in GE to "Degrees, Decimal Minutes"...see attachment...
Then I clicked "Apply Settings" and then "OK"...
I deleted my waypoint from the opening page of GE and closed the program...
I went back into HB PC..opened my waypoints...highlighted my waypoint...clicked on the GE icon....
GE opened with my waypoint still being shown as the format xx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx (and still in the Middle East somewhere)
So I checked, once again, the Tools/Options and my selection from before had not changed from "Degrees, Decimal Minutes"...
I am still confused.... :-\

OK...I think I have found my problem.....but I still don't know how to correct it....
HB PC records coordinate format as follows:
N00 00.000
E000 00.000
The coordinates of the actual waypoint that I need to create in HB PC are in the format of:
N00 00.000
W000 00.000
So, I'm guessing my problem is in the difference in the E and the W...which definately would put my waypoint somewhere on the other side of the world....
So how do I convert my W (Longitude) bearing to an E (Longitude) bearing before inserting the digits into HB PC...??

Try this:

Maybe you can use this

Here you see 4 diffrent positions for the same place MIAMI

Its not about GE recognising the format, you are just not entering it correctly.
N, E, S and W are all part of the GPS coordinate. HB PC will take the format, you will just have to enter the W or S in the format since HB PC defaults to N E.
If the first number (Lat) is negative then it is South of the Equator and you have to enter an S and if Lon is negative then it is West of the Prime Meridian and you will have to enter W.
So, If you are in North America, your coordinates will have to be formated NXX.XXX WXX.XXX.
As you have found out, if you put in NXX.XXX EXX.XXX then it will be on the opposite side of the globe.
Imaginge the Prime Meridian and International date line running around the glode top to bottom and acting like an verticle equator. We are North of the Equator and West of the Prime Meridian.

YEA...that worked...!! I went into HB PC and opened my waypoint again...
I changed the E to W and then clicked on the GE icon....
Now my waypoint is where it is supposed to be on my home lake...
Thanks guys for your patience with me....
