Title: chart speed
Post by: johnnytherock on July 21, 2013, 02:23:57 PM
so, I know where there are a few car tires on bottom in 12 ft of water.  to get great "round" car tire on sonar, the chart speed at 5mph has to be set at 7.  otherwise, at 5mph, the tires are oblong.   how I expected this unit to perform for 2 grand, and how it is performing are 2 different things.  i think there should be a law that says, if your product doesn't perform the way it say it does, meaning it needs updates to make it as intended, a consumer should have the option to get his/her money back.  jmho.   kinda feel about this unit the way I feel about my buick lacrosse.  not as good as it looks.  I think I am going to pass on the new 360 imaging.  I expect it will be the same as far as performance goes.  just not quite right.    fishwell.   johnnytherock

That is the reason for having the ability to adjust the chart speed......that way you can scan at different speeds and still keep the image in perspective.
To get better images I would slow down a little bit more, reduce the range some, and reduce the chart speed to just a little higher than boat speed.

Finding tires on the bottom doesn't sound like something to complain about.  This unit is easier to learn to use than the alternatives.

I knew a guy who complained about a match not starting a fire for him. I told him it worked better when it wasn't raining, and the first time around. He couldn't seem to get it to light that second time.

well, if the alternatives are no better, maybe I'll buy a motorcycle,   metric too.
