Title: 997 no photo overlay or 3D
Post by: rockfishbuster on July 09, 2013, 07:44:10 AM: I Have a 997 that I just purchased, and I cant get photo overlay or 3D to work, I can get port photo/ panoramic photo. The map card platinum is not of my area where I live, so in running the unit in simulation and resetting simulation to the card coverage area, in birds eye view when moving the boat near land with the courser the unit shuts down and restarts????? Is this from being in simulation mode or dose the unit only do 3D birds eye view where the charts cover and the unit is?? ALSO, I have not updated the card or unit, so I dont know if thats a problem. What version of software are you running in your 997 unit?
How are you powering the unit while you are looking at the Platinum mapping card?

You should be fine with looking at the 3D maps in the Simulator mode.

We have seen some 997 users have problems running the Platinum mapping cards with the 6.300 software.

Or if it works in your suggestion older download leave it alone? Another thing is I plan on getting a new platinum+ chart card, what download would suggest for my unit with the newer card that works best? sorry to bug you but I don't know,,thank you

Version 6.300 is the latest software update for the 997 units. I would try the older 5.840 version software with your Platinum mapping card. I am assuming that the Platinum + map card will work with your 997 with the older software only because Navionics web site has it listed as such. I would try and confirm this with them before purchasing it.
