I just ordered a new 998 HD SI unit. I'm wondering if the transducer (9XHS-9-Si-180-T) is the exact same as the one I already have mounted for my 798 ci HD SI unit that I bought back in March of 2011?
I have a transducer saver on it, but want to order another if I need a different (updated) one for the new transducer.
If they are the same, then I might not even run the new one if I don't have to.
Thanks,

Welcome to the Side Imaging Forums Chris!
The 798 units come packaged with the smaller XNT-9-Si-180-T Compact Side Imaging transducer. The 998 units come packaged with a larger XHS-9-HDSi-180-T High Definition Side Imaging transducer. The HDSi transducer will be able to produce the additional 800kHz Si sonar that the 998c HD Si unit can use (the 798ci HD Si cannot use the 800kHz Si sonar frequency). So unless you changed from the original transducer that came with your 798ci HD Si unit you will need to order a new transducer saver for the larger HDSi transducer.
