Title: hdsi on 798 improvement over old transducer
Post by: D S on May 30, 2013, 11:53:27 AM
just tried new transducer on 798 last night .
i swapped out original for HDSI  and the improvement is substantial,
but  a question for others ??
to get optimum image i t seems as though i need to go a little faster  about  2mph or more  and also have  the screen speed  higher then what i prevously used .......
this may be a bit of a problem  for me ........
any suggestions on what parameters  to adjust as i usually drift in the river moving 1 to 1.5 mph and the image isnt quite as good.
most threads / DV say to set screen speed same as speed of boat but seems i need a faster screen speed to get the great images

Are you drifting straight or sideways? Are you recording while scanning? You might have to bump the chart speed up to correct for that.  I usually set chart speed 1 up to 2mph when not recording and up to 2-3 clicks higher when recording.

straight ...and I didn't realize that recording would cause you to need to increase the screen speed??
I will have to try again while not recording.. any other parameters I should change?......
cheers
