				Hi all

After adding a MercMonitor to my new Z7 I would like it to interact with my 1198c and my 998cSI

After reading and drawing my own conclusions I think I have the hook up figured out. If I am right the diagram below should allow the MerMonitor to receive the GPS info it needs and the MercMonitor info should be able to be displayed on the HB units.
Obviously the HB units need to be firmware that supports these functions and they need to be turned on...
 Do I have this correct?

 Thanks for your help!

No, the NMEA2K adapter is a one-way communications gateway.  It will convert NMEA2K data to work on the Ethernet system but not allow information to flow the opposite way.  You will need to make other connections to get the GPS data from either the 998’s or 1198’s GPS Receiver to the MercMonitor gauges.

Assuming that they will accept NMEA 0183 data sentences: will need to know which set of wire colors your intended GPS receiver has in its NMEA ‘pigtail’ connection wire.  This is the shorter second wire that comes out of the connector for the GPS Receiver.  They will either be Red, White and Black or Green, White and Black.

My merc monitor has a  nmea 0183 connector also. Guess I dont understand the hookup with the addition of using the 0183 plug.

 Thanks

With your connections as you show them above your MercMonitor will not receive any GPS information from the 998 and 1198 units.  So you will need to make a connection from the NMEA 0183 output of either unit to the MercMonitor in addition to the connections that you have drawn out.

				Thanks
Is there a cable for this?  Which conmector on the hb umit is the 0183 ?

 Much appreciated!

The NMEA 0183 output cable is the second (shorter) cable that comes out of the GPS Receiver’s cable connector.

So the 0182 connector comes direcrly from the puck not the unit?

Yes..... What you have to remember is that HB is WAY behind with NMEA (and other) networking.... The head units can listen on the network.... But no talky...... :-X

Depending on which cable you have in your GPS Receivers; the NMEA 0183 will come either directly from the GPS Receiver or from the unit.  Which set of wire colors do your GPS Receivers have: Red/White/Black or Green/White/Black?
