Post by: Southbound on May 09, 2013, 10:29:46 AM
My unit  is one year old and I was wondering if I can install contour dx on the unit?

ContourXD is the name of the mapping package that is pre-installed in some of our units.  If you have an 898c Si unit it is already installed.  It cannot be installed after the unit is built.

To get better mapping you will need to look at using either a Navionics or LakeMaster mapping card in your unit.

I talked to HUMMIN rep and she said that it was for lakes only. I am on the coast. However on the website it said Contour  XD is lakes and inshore???

I just looked on my 998c Si unit with the ContourXD maps in it and there are some inshore depth contours.  Is this what you are asking?

Yes.. My unit doesn't show any contour lines or nothing except the rough outline of land.

At what location(s)?
I did not check the entire Geogia coastline but have attached a screen snapshot of the Jekyl Island area.  Check this area on your unit and see if you get the same or not.  If not, you need to conmtact the Humminbird Customer Resource folks about this.
