Title: got my 998 and 360 back from dealer install...problems
Post by: promapper on April 22, 2013, 09:17:37 PM
first off the dealer assumed the 998 gps and the 360 gps were the same and redundant and did not install the gps from the 360.  My research and reading the instructions showed that they obviously are not.  seems the 360 has a compass and I dont believe the 998 gps has one.

1st question... in the world of surveying the use of two antennas/receivers improves positional accuracy.  Will the 998 use both antennas for position or just one?  if just one then it will have to be the one with the compass.

Secondly,  neither the dealer nor I can get the control unit to recognize the 360 unit.  I have verified the 360 has power by deploying and retracting.  And I have waited several minutes for it for recognition/find the 360.

Anyone have any suggestions

The 998 unit will only use one GPS at a time.  If you want it to use the one with the compass than you will have to set it so.

The 360 Imaging needs its own GPS-HS Receiver.  Connect it up and see if that helps.  Also make sure that you are running the current 6.610 software in your 998 unit.

Thanks Greg,  All is well!  it was a software update.  I assumed incorrectly that the dealer would check on any updates automatically.
