Can anybody provide a link to the latest updates for the 997 and the 898?

Mervin,

The best place to find the current updates is on the Humminird Website (http://www.humminbird.com).  You will need to register your units, and then the software updates will be in your account downloads.

You can alos find them here on this website, we try to keep them up to date, under the Downloads (http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?action=downloads) section in the top menu.
