I have continuing problems with my GPS function disconnecting on my 798. This never happened until I installed the 6.25 software some months ago. There is no pattern or logic to the dropout. The screen will suddenly show "GPS not connected". Sometimes it will reconnect itself, sometimes you have to switch it off and restart. Most of the time it will disconnect again after a few minutes. This is a real pain. Can anyone suggest a solution ? Will installing the latest software version correct this ?

It could be a bad connection of the GPS connector..
Remove the head unit and try bending the pins in the connector "ever so slightly"...
You might even try removing the cables from the mount and plug them directly into the head unit to test for possible connection problems in the mount...

If there was something wrong with the 6.250 software update, installing another version could correct this. I would check the connections first and be very, very careful if you decide to bend any pins on the GPS Receiver connector.
I would also try removing the black plastic cap at the end of the NMEA “pigtail” wire (this is the second shorter wire that comes out of the GPS Receiver’s connector). Make sure that none of these wires is shorting out to each other. Reseal this when you are done.

I downloaded the 6.61 software upgrade yesterday. Operated my unit on the water 10 hours today with no problems with the GPS disconnecting. I assume this corrected it. Thanks.
