when using 2 hb units.,I read an article that said to reduce interference,when using dual beam transducers,is to put 1 unit on 200 khz and the second unit on 83 kHz.My question is ,on the HB 798 ,when you turn off the 83 or 200.,does the HB turn off the transmitter or receiver.ie: does the unit keep transmitting and just not process the the returns?

You can't turn off 200khz. That freq is used for your depth. 83khz is the only frequency that can be turned on/off.
Less than ~20 feet or so I can run both of my units w/o interference. In water greater than 20 I get vertical lines on my screen. Fairy easy to tell it is cross talk, etc. You can fish through it. If it bothers me too much and I am the only one in the boat I turn my console sonar off. If someone else is fishing in the back of the boat I use the Ethernet settings so that both units use the same transducer thus eliminating cross talk.

You can also try turning on and up the Noise Filter menu on the unit that is showing the sonar interference.
