Can anyone help on here? I just updated my unit to the latest software version 6.6 and now the unit shuts itself down and goes into a continious loop of turning off and on. i followed the procedures for the updates and also tried to re-install a previous version like 5.7 software but still get the same thing. Unit acts like its going to work then after a few minutes it shuts down and starts to boot up again in a never ending loop of turn on and off.

I think you need to call Humminbird customer service on that one.

Anyone have any suggestions? I have a tournament next weekend and I doubt I will be able to get it fixed by Humingbird by then.
-
are you certain you have a good power source?

Yes I swapped locations to the bow, same issue. I updated the bow unit with no problems. The bow unit is a 958.

All I can suggest is that you try to reinstall the older software again. Make sure you have removed the 6.6 software from the SD card. I have had this happen before and it corrected itself after a few attempts.
Which instructions did you follow? My video or Humminbird directions on website? Try both ways, and see what happens.

I followed the website directions. I will try it again with the older software version.

Well, I find that more units end up malfunctioning if you use the directions on the HB website. The video on youtube I published seems to work the best.
Restore defaults,
Insert SD card with Update
Follow prompts
Allow to reboot
Remove SD card
Restore defaults
See if that works!

How to Update the Software on your Humminbird Side Imaging Unit (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3VyfVXg9L8#ws)

Remove all memory and mapping cards from the unit to see if it still does this or not.
If that does not help see if you can first save and then delete all of your Nav Data (even try using the Format All Nav Directories menu if possible).
If none of these helps then you will have to ship your unit into Humminbird to be serviced. Call them to set this up.
