Title: Has BPS flubbed the moniker again...??
Post by: rnvinc on March 06, 2013, 10:31:05 PM
So I notice the 2013 BPS Spring Angler catalog and the 2013 BPS Marine catalog is listing the 1198 now as ...:

"Humminbird® 1198c HD SI Combo"

Has HB finally decided to add the "HD" moniker to the 1198 or has BPS mistakenly using the wrong terminology again ...??

I havent seen any advertising that says 1198c HD SI from Humminbird. I dont think the branding is wrong, I am sure it is because it has the HDSI Transducer!  If any units should have the moniker "HD", the 1198 certainly fits the bill!

You would think that but the official name is still 1198c Si Combo – no “HD” in it anywhere.  I would have thought with the LED displays going in the 800/900 series units and the “HD” branding that these would have changed too so that they were all branded the same, but that did not happen.

I kinda figured it was just BPS again advertising unknowingly...

"HD" in the other series units..(700, 800, 900) has previously been related to a certain hardware change in units...(not yet in the 1100 series obviously)...

I try to keep my info up to date to answer questions at other forums and these  "HD" moniker questions comes up frequently...

Frequently users associate "HD" with the thinking they are going to get a better picture with a "HD" unit and I'm sure there will be some asking if they should get the 1198 or the 1198 HD...

Thanks guys for the "Official" title...:)
