So while installing the transducer, the locking not on the pivot bolt completely froze up. I cannot loosen or tighten the bolt and my transducer is attached... I don't want to strip the Allen head so now wtf do I do??

 Thanks!

My pivot bolt came with a rust colored product on the end similar to LockTite.
When I had to remove the transducer, I jammed the allen wrench against the transom (aluminum boat)
and with a socket and ratchet and extra torque, it came off.

Here's an update as to how I handled this fubar. I had written Greg in an email an dont want to re-type it all again :-/
I'm still looking for advice as to how I can get a replacement bolt and bracket.. I just hope the transducer didn't get damaged internally. :(

 Email:
 Hi Greg,
I got your email off if the forums, so I hope you don't mind my asking you for some advice.

We were installing the 798 transducer on the back transom of my 14' aluminum sea nymph.

Got it all aligned, went to tighten the bolt with with the Allen head and locking nut... And about 4 turns, the locking nut froze.. On the transom, ducer attached. There was no way the ducer was going to stay locked into position, as it was barely tightened. We could still rock it up and down.

We were able to get the ducer and the flip up bracket off the boat. The Allen head was near stripped. Tried using epoxy on the Allen wrench and bolt to see if it would hold, but that didn't work.  Didn't feel comfortable applying heat as the ducer is so close.

Ended up padding the ducer, and using a high speed drill press to drill out the bolt.  It finally came off.

So here's where I need the advice!
Where do I get a new bolt/nut/flip bracket? I don't know the part numbers

Also, I'm nervous that the vibrations from drilling could have damaged the ducer, even though I checked and not even a scratch on it.  How fragile/sensitive are these things? Any way to check to see if it is ok before I take it to the lake?

 Thanks in advance bud

hey kegg do you by chance have an old HB transducer you could use the old mounting hardware ??

maybe a hardware store close by you could check for temp replacement parts till you can get with HB for new mount hardware ??

just a few ideas to try
-
A hardware store could hook you up with something that will work for now but I would contact Humminbird and get the correct replacement hardware sent to you.

-
Most likely not getting to the lake for at least a month, I'll give HB a call and get the hardware.  Was strange, never had a nut freeze up in my like that before

Would be nice if the plastic brackets had some metal to
Give it some reinforcement where the bolt/nut attaches

 Thanks fellas!

ou.It is not just hardware. It is not a break away bolt. If you get the proper size bolt and lock away nut you should be fine. You can get these from any hardware store.

				update

Called HB customer svc. No questions asked, at no charge, they are shipping me an entire mounting kit in 1-2 business days. That's good business!

				I thought that they would.
Occasional bad hardware just happens.  :(

This is a common assurance with stainless steel fasteners best to use a zinc based never seize compound to stop the thread from binding on install
