Well I have been thinking about another Hbird unit. Like the 1198. I started scouring the net looking for the best prices and found my way back here. Two thinks......first is, what is the latest update for the 997? I have not updated my 997 for a year or so.
Second where is the best prices on a new 1198? Thanks. By the way my 997c SI unit is awesome.

If you have registered your 997 with Humminbird, then you can
get the newest update from there:http://www.humminbird.com/Support/
Version 5.840 looks like the newest update from the link on this site:http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?action=downloads;cat=4
Some people here have used Universal Mania, and have been happy.
They are supposed to have the best prices.
I have no experience with them myself.

6.300 is the last software update for the 997c Si units.
You should be able to download it off your Humminbird account.
