Could someone let me know if I would gain anything by purchasing the Quadra Beam transducer?  I plant to mount the factory transducer on my trolling motor?  This is my first SI device and I'm not sure what to expect.  I'm assuming only one transducer can be used without a switch....Any comments or suggestions would be helpful!

I have the Quadra beam on an 858 at the Bow TM and when I see something of interest I look back at the SI on the console "Spun on it's RAM mount" for reference./ But that,s two units running at the same time. The quadra beam isn,t switched on a single unit.

Since the QuadraBeam transducer can be mounted and work inside-the-hull of a fiberglass boat you could mount it there and use it at higher boat speeds than most usually get their Si transducers to work when mounted on the transom.  This way you could cover a wider area of the bottom at higher boats speeds.

Thanks Greg and Gattlin. I like idea of using quadra beam for higher speeds I have a 581i planned for console, will quad work on this model?

I'm brainstorming here.  Is it possible to use one transducer for two units?  I'm thinking of mounting a quad beam on transom  for use with 581i at console for scanning while motoring around.  My 798ci will be mounted at bow w transducer on trolling motor.  Can the quad beam transducer be used for the 581i and the 798ci with a y-cable?  is switch needed and if so which one?

Can two transducers be plugged into my 798ci?

If there is a major problem I'm missing (or can improve on my idea) someone let me know!

Do you have a 581i or a 581i HD DI model unit?
Is your 798ci unit a 798ci Si or a 798ci HD Si model?

				Greg,
I have on backorder the 581i HD DI.  My 798 is the 798ci HD SI.  Again, my intent would be to use the 581i HD DI to scan while motoring with outboard and then use 798ci HD SI on box with trolling motor.

I appreciate the help.  I'm wanting to mount these on my 1860 wareagle which I've fabbed a front deck on.  If you see any problems I'
 d like to know!

The QuadraBeam transducer will not work with the 581 HD DI model unit.  This unit will only work with a DI transducer, but you could mount the DI transducer inside the hull but it would not have the wider coverage of the QuadraBeam transducer.

Can I use the quad beam and Si transducer simulataneously with the 798ci Hd Si?
What's best combination unit/transducer for scanning while motoring my aluminum boat?

Yes but maybe not how you want to.  You can connect both transducers to the unit one of two ways: through an AS-Si-DB-Y cable or TS3 Transducer Switch.

If using the AS-Si-DB-Y cable only the 200/83kHz 2D sonar beams (NOT the 455kHz Side Beams) of the QuadraBeam transducer will be connected to the 798ci HD Si unit.  So you will not have the advantage of the QuadraBeam transducer to use on your 798ci HD Si unit.

If you use the TS3 Transducer Switch you will be able to use either the CSi transducer that comes with the 798ci HD Si unit or the QuadraBeam transducer but not both at the same time.  This may be the direction you want to go here.
