Title: Shrinking and disappearing waypoints???

I have a friend that has a 998 and 798 Si units...and he says that his waypoints actually start shrinking in size and then eventually are gone.  They don't all do it at the same time, but he only has like 200 waypoints.  I would think that overwriting them would completely erase them instead of shrinking them and then disappearing.????

Anyone have a clue what is going on?

I wonder if what he is seeing is the declutter feature on the units.  Have him go to the Nav menu tab and set the Waypoint Decluttering menu to the “Off” setting.

He should also check under the listed waypoints to se if any really have disappeared or are just set to not be “visible”.

I've always wonderered what the declutter feature does.

The Waypoint Decluttering menu basically causes your waypoints to all display with the small Blue Circle icon if they are close together.  Now this all depends on how close together they actually are and also what zoom level you happen to be on.  When turned on it will also hide the waypoint names.
