do I need a adapter cable to hook my us2 from my minnkota tm to my 1198c si combo ?

Yes you do.
According to the Minn Kota web site you need the MKR-US2-8 Humminbird 7 pin Adapter Cable.

you would think since each is made by the same company ( Johnson Outdoors Inc ) they would just hook up with no adaptor lol
