I have 16 channel receiver, Would I need to get as-gr 50 gps sensor when the new upgrade takes place? Will the 16 channel be fast as the as-ga 50 gps senor?

I am pretty sure the answer is Yes, since the GR50 is faster and more accurate then the GR16.  But, I think the bottom line is how you are using your system to determine if it is worth spending the extra money on it.

If you are asking whether the GR16 will be able to have the enhanced GPS refresh rate when the software for this is loaded onto your unit – the answer is “yes” as George so correctly surmised.  This won’t make any more accurate at positioning though.
