Title: Rerigging new boat
Post by: gixxer01 on January 14, 2013, 01:17:17 PM
Picked up a new boat last fall and would like to do some re-rigging.  The boat came with a 798 HD at the console.  I would like to replace that with a 998 and use the 798 as a "mobile" graph.  I already have a mount at the bow using the USll on the terrova, but would also like to have a mount at the stern for use when running the kicker motor.  I don't need the SI at the bow, but would like it at the console and stern units.

Questions:
1.  Does the 998 utilize the same High speed 2D transducer as the 798? (I do not know which model ducer is glassed in)
2.  I would like to share waypoints among both units in all positions.  Am I right in assuming that I would need to run ethernet connection to both bow and
stern in order to do this?  And if so, I could also use the SI transducer with all units, or is that only doable with the Y cable?
3.  I would like to share as much info. as possible as efficiently as possible.  Any ideas of how to accomplish this would be great!

Thanks

1.  Yes it does.
2.  Yes, you will have to run Ethernet cables to all positions in which you will have a unit you would like to share waypoints and/or sonar with.  Be advised that you would need the 5-Port Ethernet Switch (AS-ETH-5PS) to do this.  The 798ci HD locations will also need the AS-EC-QDE cables.
3.  Use the Ethernet connection between units.
