Title: Problem with my unit

Hi everyone, I hope some of you can help me

I have the 798 SI HD unit for more than a year so its out of warranty

A couple of days ago the unit started to freeze when I tried to enter the "Waypoints, Routes and Tracks" section.
Everything else is working but I can't manage the waypoints. I restored to defaults and updated to the latest firmware but I still have the problem.

I purchased the serial cable to try to download the data but I get "Download Data error".

Any one else had this problem or has any clue how to fix it?

I'd try exporting all my waypoints to SD card then remove SD card, then go to setup menu in advanced user mode and select format Nav Directories. Then import the waypoints in to Humminbird PC then save them back to the SD and when asked to add to or replacae select replace. Restart unit then insert sd card and when asked import nav data.

I think you have corrupt waypoint.

Hi!

The firmware I had when I open the topic didn't had the option "Format Nav Directories".

Today I updated the firmware to the newest from 12/21/2012 and this one did have the format nav directories option. I tried it and now my problem is fixed.

Thank you so much for your help, that fixed my unit and saved me lots of money.
