I'm starting to think that Humminbird quickly
put something theoretical down on paper, and
announced it to the public to get a jump on the
competition.
Did they ever have a working prototype of the 360?
I'm thinking now that when the engineers tried to
make it work, it didn't.
It if spins all the time, then it must drain the
battery pretty good.
It also has to deploy and retract.
I'll bet it's an extremely complicated
accessory to build.
It also has to interphase with the unit.
This thing was announced in February, and
it's not out yet.
Something doesn't seem right.
I hope they can build it and that it's awesome.
Any thoughts on this?

There is more than one working unit out there, KVD has one, the dealer in Australia has one, and the guy on Lainer have one. Read through this, http://www.bbcboards.net/humminbird-sonar-gps/173633-humminbird-360-imaging-information-resource.html. (http://www.bbcboards.net/humminbird-sonar-gps/173633-humminbird-360-imaging-information-resource.html.)
I believe there are few current issues, I have no proof and this is just my guess based on a few things. None of the dealers or pros that I have seen have both i pilot link and 360 on the same boat. The additional delay to the 360 in Oct was preceded by the delay of the GPS with heading sensor.
The SW update required to run 360 is being bundled with the update for i pilot link, this caused additional work. Second, I believe there was a delay in the new GPS with Heading Sensor causing delay in getting the advertised functionality of marking structure "accurately" anywhere on the 360 view. The gps with heading sensor has a msrp of 199.99 any other heading sensors I have found are 3 times that much.

There have been working prototypes for quite a while ITG.
Remember too that while it was announced earlier in the year (at a major fishing event) that it originally was not supposed to ship until the August-September time frame.
-
Prototypes never make it to the field. These are test things. Ask Roddy about shipping...He has been offered several ship dates but no product as yet..

Ordered, payed for money removed from my bank, shipping date giving, repeated phone calls.
It will ship next week, the middle of the month, the end of the month, the first of the month,in October, in November, in January, the factory out store called IT SHIPPED TODAY five days later Oh we messed up, it did not ship it will ship in February.
Screw it, refund my money. I will spend my $2400.00 somewhere else!!!!!
Roddy
PS: Do not say a word, it was CS at Hummingbird and there outlet store that screwed it up again!!

It's not like Roddy really needs another sonar. :)
But, since he ordered it, Humminbird should
take care of him.

Yes we have had prototypes in the field for many, many months now. The product has not been released for production yet so everything up to this point is a prototype. There are various levels of prototypes though, so don’t go thinking that KVD has something with a bunch of wires sticking out of it on his boat!
The Customer resource folks just give the date that they are told Roddy. As delays happen, new dates are given same as with any product. Just curious: whom did you actually order the 360 Imaging from?
-
I was lucky enough to actually see it in action on Lanier. Hopefully you guys will be able to grab one soon

Damn.
That's a big bracket securing that thing to the
main motor.
-
The 360 Imaging uses the same brackets as the Minn Kota Talon. I don’t think that you would need all that strength for the 360 Imaging by itself but you would need it if it is teamed up with a Talon.
-
Correct. That is a talon bracket
