If you don't have an account, I would strongly urge you to
sign up and register your unit.

But ITG is right; you should register your unit on the Humminbird web site.

When you are done with that make sure and sign up for the Humminbird Select program if that is a new 1198c Si unit:

I just got a used 1198 and I have not register the unit yet. I have done that now and it's 6.490 Thanks Rex

I just got a 1198 from Ebay. Software version is 5.7. When I tried to register it with Humminbird I got an error to contact customer service. It's got me somewhat worried. I also am curious how old is the 5.7 software. I payed $2150 lot.

Why would you be worried?  Just call the Humminbird Customer Resource folks and let them help you get your unit registered.  New or used – they can still be registered.

The 5.700 software for the 1198c Si units was released in July of 2007.
