Title: Transducer question
Post by: Sigler on November 22, 2012, 11:25:23 AM
I have a friend that bought a 798 and mounted the transducer on the back of his boat. He is wanting to use the same graph and put a transducer on his trolling motor. What transducer does he need and what type of box will he need to hook them up? Thanks

Is he going to move the Head unit to the trolling motor and to the console?  If so then he will need hook it up as a single unit.

Humminbird has the TS3 transducer switch to go between the two transducers, personally I liked the older toggle switch better, but it is no longer produced.

These are the trolling motor transducers that I could find listed on HB's site :XTM 9 HDSI 180 T, XTM 9 SI 180 T

I am pretty sure there are others.

What you need depends on how it is going to be used.

So he will not be moving the unit – just connecting a second transducer (that is mounted on the trolling motor) to it.  The TS3 Transducer Switch and XTM-9-Si-180-T transducer that George mentioned will do the trick.
